Traveling to unfamiliar places can bring troubles you’d rather not experience while overseas. Tourists must prepare properly prior embarking on a trip. I thought of 10 things to pay attention:

- Safety begins when you pack. Match your clothing to the local. Avoid expensive-looking jewelry.

- Travel light. You can move more quickly and less tired, as well as not so likely to leave baggage unattended.

- Carry the smallest number of expensive items, and conceal these in hidden places, for example a travel money belt.

- Use ATMs during the day, when there are people around.

- Make your best to use more credit cards and travellers cheques than money.

- Don’t take unmarked taxis.

- Be discreet when map reading. Check it before going out.

- You shouldn’t change money at airports, because thieves could be watching you.

- Take care of your bags inside trains along popular tourist routes, especially at night.

- Don’t use distractions, e.g., cell phones and iPods|mp3 players.

BONUS: Don’t invite someone you just met to your room.
